MODEL SAFETY FIRST!
But really, safety for us all...There have been many people before us who have been creating safe spaces and fostering the lives and careers of those who they work with. This resource is a testament to the influence of our collaborative and cumulative efforts as a community of artists.
It is an honor to work with the people I call my friends and peers in this very intentional, yet still developing space. I know that I will keep learning and growing because of our relationships, and I am so grateful for those who are involved now.
Hi, I'm Aurora, and this is my project. I am a photographer and model in Denver, Colorado. After a series of my own unfortunate experiences as a model I started reaching out to other creatives around me to try and figure out what to do. The knowledge I was given felt important and concrete enough to share--so I created this site. As someone who spends time on both sides of the lens I hope both models, photographers, and other industry professionals find it helpful. I've learned a lot about what tools we have available, and what's still missing...
Restorative action led by needs of survivors along with community resources to address root causes of harmful scenarios is the dream!
It is something I feel passionately about, and have been working to establish a framework for here.
Some friends and I are developing a Model Safety Workshop, and are really excited about wht this can mean for our community. Engaging in dialogue, education, and active creation of safe spaces we are shifting our experiences from where we have come.
Another friend and I have been dreaming about a mutual aid app to create a space where survivors can safely and anonymously discuss their experiences and any actions they would like to take collectively to strengthen their community. I am looking forward to learning more about restorative justice and mutual aid networks to apply to this situation in the future.
